Magnetic Suspension Balance MSB PT 1|Gravimetric and Density Measurement System for High-Temperature, High-Pressure, and Corrosive Environments
The Magnetic Suspension Balance MSB PT 1 is designed for precise mass measurement under high-temperature, high-pressure, and corrosive environments. It covers a wide pressure range from ultra-high vacuum to several tens of bar and supports mass change, adsorption behavior, and density determination in gaseous or liquid atmospheres. The system consists of a high-precision balance, suspension coupling, magnetic suspension position sensor, and suspension control unit, making it suitable for long-term continuous measurements under harsh process and research conditions.
Sample mass is transmitted to the external balance through a non-contact magnetic suspension mechanism. The suspension magnet is composed of permanent magnets and is magnetically coupled with an electromagnetic holding magnet installed on the balance side. A position sensor continuously monitors the suspension position, while a PID controller regulates the electromagnetic force to maintain stable levitation. This design completely isolates the precision balance from high temperature, high pressure, and corrosive media, ensuring measurement stability and extended instrument lifetime.
Key Features
- Non-contact measurement structure: Sample mass is transferred via magnetic coupling, keeping the balance isolated from high temperature, pressure, and corrosive environments.
- Wide operating conditions: The metal measurement chamber supports temperatures from -196°C to 2400°C and pressures from ultra-high vacuum up to 150 bar.
- High resolution: Weight resolution down to 1 µg, suitable for detailed adsorption/desorption and micro mass change studies.
- Multiple measurement chamber options: Metal and glass measurement systems are available to meet different corrosion resistance and cleanliness requirements.
- Suitable for corrosive and toxic media: Metal chambers can be equipped with special coatings, while glass chambers encapsulate the suspension magnet and position sensor components inside the glass.
- Density measurement capability: Based on Archimedes’ principle, enabling density determination under different temperatures and pressures.
- Evolved gas analysis integration: Compatible with MS or FTIR for in-situ evolved gas analysis.
Typical Applications
- Plastics industry: Adsorption/desorption and thermal behavior analysis of monomers, polymers, and additives.
- Automotive exhaust after-treatment: Adsorption capacity and deactivation behavior of catalyst materials.
- Food manufacturing: Adsorption behavior and stability testing of powders and formulations under controlled atmospheres.
- Supercritical fluid extraction: Mass and density measurements under supercritical CO₂ conditions.
- Coal gasification and biomass energy research.
- Soil and environmental remediation: Adsorption/desorption kinetics of pollutants.
- Natural gas and hydrogen purification and storage material evaluation.
- Fuel cell membranes and porous materials adsorption behavior and retention analysis.
